Council on Aging of St. Lucie to Host March for Meals Community Awareness Walk
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – The Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. (COASL) will host a Meals on Wheels Community Awareness Walk on Friday, March 27 from 12:30–2:30 PM at 2501 SW Bayshore Blvd in Port St. Lucie as part of the national March for Meals campaign.
As one of the fastest-growing retirement communities in the country, St. Lucie County is facing a growing demand for services like Meals on Wheels to support its expanding senior population. Currently, 715 local seniors are on a waitlist for Meals on Wheels, meaning they are waiting for access to nutritious meals and critical daily wellness checks
“Right now, 715 seniors in St. Lucie County are waiting for Meals on Wheels, not just for a meal, but for connection and care,” said Lacinda Mouton Interim President/CEO “Our goal is simple: no senior in our community should have to wait for something so essential.”
Meals on Wheels provides more than food. For many homebound seniors, it offers a vital safety check and often the only meaningful human interaction they receive.
The free, family-friendly event will include a short community walk, refreshments, raffle prizes, and opportunities for residents to learn more about how Meals on Wheels supports seniors in the community.
The event is proudly presented by Conviva Care Center, with additional support from a strong network of community partners including VITAS Healthcare, Suncoast Senior Solutions, Assisted Living Locators, Palm Garden, Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie, Treasure Coast Food Bank, Better Life Home Care, Jackson Drugs, Wesley Home Estates ALF, and Encompass Health. Raffle prizes include tickets to the Elliott Museum, Florida Aquarium, and WonderWorks, and others giving attendees the opportunity to win while supporting a meaningful cause.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate. For more information about the event or how to support Meals on Wheels, visit coasl.com or call 772-336-8608.
