March for Meals – Community Awareness Walk
Council on Aging of St. Lucie to host March for Meals Community Awareness Walk on March 27
The Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. (COASL) will host a Meals on Wheels Community Awareness Walk on Friday, March 27, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at 2501 SW Bayshore Blvd. The event is part of the national March for Meals campaign, which raises awareness about senior hunger and the importance of community-based nutrition programs.
While Meals on Wheels serves more than 2 million seniors nationwide each year, many older adults remain on waiting lists for services. In St. Lucie County, the need continues to grow as more seniors face food insecurity and social isolation.
“Our message is simple: No senior should have to wait for a meal,” said Lacinda Mouton, interim CEO of the Council on Aging of St. Lucie. “This walk is an opportunity for our community to come together, raise awareness and support local seniors who rely on Meals on Wheels for nourishment and connection.”
The free, family-friendly event will include a short, easy community walk (not a race), live music, hydration and snack stations, raffle prizes, and opportunities to learn more about Meals on Wheels services in St. Lucie County.
The event is presented by Conviva Care Center, whose partnership supports outreach efforts and community engagement.
Founded in 1973, the Council on Aging of St. Lucie provides a range of services designed to help seniors maintain independence and delay premature placement into long-term care facilities. In addition to Meals on Wheels, COASL offers homemaking services, respite care, adult day care and other supportive programs throughout the county.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend. Businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities are still welcome.
